Aftermath
Puo participated by hosting a stall where we met many interesting people, sold our products and build up a network of parents and children. On Saturday 8 August, we hosted a kiddies fun hour which included storytelling by Zintsomi Storytelling & Communications and an interactive guessing game with the Puo First Words flashcards! On Sunday 9 August, Nthabi participated in an interesting panel discussion on the state of indigenous languages in publishing. The panel was moderated by Prof James Ogude. The other panelists were Prof Keorapetse Kgosietsile and Thiathu Nemutanzhela.
The DJ Sbu Breakfast Show - 5 August 2009
I was nervous...and late! Bathong! Got there just after 08h00 and was greeted by Faith, the executive producer of the show. She prepped me with a few questions and then we went into the studio. "Wait! Please can I have some water?" My throat was so dry! Nerves!! DJ Sbu and his team were warm, friendly and relaxed - that helps...a lot!
I was being featured as the entrepreneur on his Mind UR Bizzness show. Great platform! So we got started with DJ Sbu asking questions about where I'm from, grew up, etc. (break to music, good chance for me to gulp down some more water! why's my throat acting up?) Back on air: more questions on what motivated me to start Puo. Now I was starting to relax - I just figured, I'm having a conversation Sbu and there's no one else around - let alone the hundreds of thousands of his regular listeners! Then I got into the rhythm of things, and next thing we were now taking callers. Whew! :)
Lots of encouragement, few questions on the 'how', and great prompting by Palesa, who reminded me about the Jozi Book Fair that coming Saturday! oops, I'd almost forgotten! thanks :)
I don't have footage or a tape, but for those who for some strange reason don't know who he is here's a link to his site: http://djsbuonline.co.za/?page_id=26
